This week, my focus was on starting my original work. I began by looking back at the outline that I originally made to remind myself what I wanted to include in this product and what I wanted to accomplish with it.
As I plan to create a website, I need to be sure that the site as a whole is cohesive and easy to navigate. As such, I spent the first part of this past week simply planning out how the website will look. I went through a couple of color pallets and styles on Canva until I found one that I was happy with and matched the tone of my website. I did not want a very serious or modern looking website, and I needed to be sure that the fonts and colors worked together well to create a calm and welcoming feeling that I wanted it to elicit.
Another major aspect of this project is the research that will be involved. I had anticipated extra research that went beyond the work I had done in previous research assessments, however, it was not until I started that I realized just how much extra research I would need to do if I wanted to follow my original plan for this website. This website was going to take longer than I originally anticipated. To help reduce some of my stress, I used the very techniques and theories I have been researching these past few months to help me plan out and reduce my stress for this project. Planning and organizing had helped me create small and tangible goals between now and December 15th when the original work is due. By creating these small goals, I have boosted my motivation to see this project to completion.
I am still determined to accomplish what I had outlined originally for this project. Infact, having to create this website during the busy end of the semester when I have deadlines from almost every other class helps me remember why I want to create this resource. My goal is to help people who have and will experience this same stress and lack of motivation that many students such as myself face during school. This realization has reaffirmed my motivation to work as hard as I can on my original work.
