This week I learned a lot about the research and publication process of a psychological study from my third interview. I learned that most studies can be completed within a year but are typically no shorter than 8 months which is unfortunate as I had planned to conduct and publish a study of my own for my final product. However, I learned of another option I can pursue that can be completed within this school year.
It is possible for me to instead do a literature review where I do research on a given topic and then pose a research question at the end based on that research. This is a good alternative as I can still turn this into a study later as I would have already done the preliminary research and created a research question, so I can pick it up from there and create a study to answer my question.
Despite being less intensive than a complete study, a literature review is still a lot of work that I would need to commit myself to. Luckily, I have already started my research in a way. As my original work requires a lot more secondary research, I have created an ever growing list of sources that I can go back to for this literature review.
