This week, there were two key assignments: The fourth research assessment and the topic proposal.
Rather than finding five sources for the research assessment, as I have been doing for the past two weeks, I focused on just one source and explored it fully. Directing my focus to just one source this week was useful as it allowed me to consider all the ways I can apply what I have learned in that source and all my other research to create my original work.
The main focus of this week was finalizing my topic proposal. The topic proposal is a formal presentation of my topic of study along with why I chose this topic in particular. Before starting the topic proposal, I needed to carefully consider all the research I had done the past couple of weeks and finalize a topic that I wanted to create my original work about based on that research.
The topic proposal was my first time writing down the reason that led to my interest in psychology. This part of the proposal required a lot of reflection and consideration of what I hope to gain from ISM as a whole. Writing it out helped me get a clear understanding of my reason and goals in this program which helped me plan better for the future and, as suggested by my research in goal setting, has increased my motivation to make the most out of this experience.
