This past week, I prepared fifteen interview questions for the Professional Symposium that will help me prepare for when I interview potential mentors in the future. I am looking forward to the Symposium as I do not have much experience conducting interviews and hope to get more comfortable with the process through this event.
I also created a draft of a resume that I can show at the Professional Symposium and eventually professionals. It is important to have a resume as it establishes some level of credibility and shows professionals that I have some knowledge in this field. This following week, we will be working on revising the resumes so that they are at the best quality once mentors get to see them.
In further preparation for the mentor meetings, I spent time this week researching further into my topic. My research revealed that the implementation of psychological treatment through technology is becoming more widespread. Online platforms that inform and educate psychologists on new treatment methods are more available, however they are not a substitute for in-person training and a face-to-face component is still required by many clinics.
I also found many studies that explain the ties between motivation and performance of a task, in academic and personal settings. The overall consensus of my research showed that those who are able to accomplish their goals typically have personal motivation that is driving them to achieve it. However, when it comes to assignments and exams in school, there are many other strong motivators, like grades or perceived rewards for performing well, that can impact a student’s performance. I would like to learn why this is the case as I continue to research my topic this week.
