Unlocking Motivation
Student Resources
The mental health of students has been a rising issue in recent years. The mental health crisis in American colleges reached its all time high during the COVID pandemic (Abrams). The Healthy Minds Study, which surveyed campuses nationwide, found that in the 2021-2022 school year alone, more than 60% of college students met the criteria for at least one mental health problem (Sarah Ketchen Lipson et al.). Of course, a deteriorating mental health can reduce student’s motivation to work, resulting in worsening grades that contribute to even more stress, creating a cycle of psychological deterioration.
People have become a lot more aware of their mental health than in past generations, but this generation of students also have many new struggles they are facing. With how overwhelming school can feel at times, it is important to have access to resources to help reduce some of that stress.
